Nea Likar
The artist Nea Likar was born in 1990 in Celje, where she continues to live and work today. She studied illustration at the Ljubljana Academy of Fine Arts and Design. She is involved in a variety of areas today, contributing her illustrations to numerous companies and artists, and she is also very much into fashion and makeup. Her work covers a wide range of topics, which she combines with her own life experience, allowing her to express herself and consequently create a strong dialogue with the viewer. What she finds important in illustration is the process, in which she focuses on exploring the issues of a specific creative area. She brings the aspect of the illustrator’s responsibility to the fore because she believes that illustration plays a crucial role in conveying messages and ideas. The artist, who largely uses pencil, but also acrylic, watercolour, and coloured pencil as her main techniques, artfully combines all this with the digital world. She preserves the traditional approach, while at the same time breaking new trails and opening new horizons both for herself and for the contemporary art world. With her work, she skilfully draws attention to the fact that the world of illustration is immense and still rather unfamiliar to the public, and that the work of an illustrator is quite variegated and dynamic.
